Wonderful and rare 2-piece ensemble by famed fashion/costume designer Gilbert Adrian. Gorgeous silk fabric with shades of silver, gray, blue, magenta-pink, and black. Love the well thought out placement of the butterflies in both pieces. High quality, unique construction design and attention to detail can be seen throughout this wonderful set.

Blouse has a peplum style waist, shoulder pads, original attached self tie belt, accompanied by a long evening skirt with a sexy 17.5 inch front slit (slit is currently 22 inches, but 4.5 inches is stitching that has come undone) and a 12 inch back kick pleat. Skirt fastens at the side with a 7-inch metal zipper. Blouse fastens with hidden snaps, hook/eye closures and self-tie belt.

There is some stress at the back seam (back of the knee area, can easily be stitched again, not a huge hole, just stretched at seam - see photo, the bright light source makes it appear worse than it is), stitching loss at top of front slit (as stated above) and it appears that this was altered at one time (Maybe a custom fitting or an alteration upon purchase, the skirt is already so small I cannot believe it was originally smaller at one time, or the design was possibly changed at the last minute to more easily walk). There is a photo showing that when held up to a bright light source you can see the stitching line that was let out (both front slit seam and back kick pleat seam- the current thread does appear to match the rest of the ensemble).  Also, I noticed some small very light spots in a couple areas ( nothing offensively obvious unless closely inspected at the front right shoulder area and at the back kick-pleat hemline -- I have not tried to have this dry cleaned since my cleaners has messed up a couple other vintage items recently). Lastly, the hem stitching has come undone a little on one sleeve cuff and just needs to be re-tacked.

Overall, this is an attractive and very collectible ensemble by a highly notable designer. Lovely signature use of beautiful silk along with a very flattering and feminine use of innovative construction. Definitely a must have for the vintage collector!!
